The Miami Dolphins traded Pro Bowl wide receiver Chris Chambers to the San Diego Chargers for a second-round pick in the 2008 National Football League draft, the teams said.
Chambers, 29, is a seven-year veteran with 405 receptions, 5,688 receiving yards, and 43 touchdown catches. He's fourth in Dolphins' history in receiving yards and touchdowns and fifth in catches.
He earned a Pro Bowl selection after the 2005 season, in which he caught 82 passes for 1,118 yards and 11 touchdowns.
Chambers also has experience playing for Chargers coach Norv Turner, who worked as offensive coordinator for the Dolphins in 2002 and 2003.
``Chris is an explosive, talented played and I'm thrilled to have an opportunity to work with him again,'' Turner said in a news release. ``The bonus for us is that he's familiar with the system. It should be a quick and easy adjustment for him.''
The move was one of two today prior to the NFL's 4 p.m. New York time trade deadline.
The Kansas City Chiefs traded running back Michael Bennett to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for undisclosed draft picks in 2008 and 2009 that will be based on performance criteria, the Chiefs said in a statement on their Web site.
Bennett was traded to Kansas City from New Orleans during training camp in 2006 and rushed for 252 yards and caught 19 passes for 124 yards as a backup with the Chiefs.
The 29-year-old Bennett spent five seasons with Minnesota after being the Vikings' first-round draft pick in 2001. He signed with New Orleans in March 2006 and was then traded to the Chiefs five months later.
Bennett has rushed for 3,174 yards with 12 touchdowns in seven seasons with the Vikings and Chiefs. He's also caught 145 passes for 1,164 yards and five scores.
