Pro Bowl 1995

AFC 41 - NFC 13
(February 5, 1995)

The advantage swung back to the AFC in 1995 in a big way. It was a game of big rushing performances and scoring. The coaches were Dallas’ Barry Switzer and Bill Cowher of the Steelers. The game was viewed by 49,121 at Aloha Stadium.

The NFC got on the board in the first half with a 28 yard field goal by Fuad Reveiz of Minnesota. They followed that with a 51 yard touchdown pass from Steve Young of San Francisco to Chris Carter of the Vikings for a 10-0 lead. The AFC roared back with three second quarter scores. Pittsburgh’s Eric Green caught a 22 yard touchdown pass from Denver’s John Elway, San Diego’s John Carney connected on a 22 yard field goal and Leroy Hoard of the Browns scored on a four yard run to make the score 17-10, AFC at the half.

Reveiz and Carney traded field goals in the third quarter to make the score 20-13 entering the fourth. Then, the floodgates opened for the AFC as Seattle’s Chris Warren and the Colts’ Marshall Faulk took over. Warren carried the ball in from 11 yards out to make the score 27-13. This was followed by another Green touchdown reception, this time for 16 yards from the Giants’ David Hostetler. The final score of the game came when Faulk took the ball from punt formation and carried it 49 yards for a touchdown. The final was AFC 41, NFC 13.

Both Warren and Faulk broke the Pro Bowl rushing record, formerly held by O.J. Simpson. Colts rookie, Faulk, rushed for a Pro Bowl record 180 yards and was selected player of the game. Chris Warren added 127 yards rushing as the AFC posted records for rushing yards (400) and total yards (552).
